Job Description

Basic Function: Implements and plans for direct casework services to clients within agency policy and procedure, under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor or designee.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interviews potential clients in agency, client’s home or by telephone; obtain background information to determine the appropriateness of the request for services.
  • Carries a selected caseload, which meets the basic environmental and psychosocial needs of the client.
  • Provides direct treatment and case management services to clients.
  • Collects and correlates statistical data on the client.
  • Provides community out-reach, in-home services, advocacy and linkage for the client.
  • Interprets the agency’s policies and services to potential clients.
  • Establishes and implements reunification service plans when a minor is placed outside of the home setting.
  • Reports suspicions of alleged child abuse and/or neglect.
  • Is on call for 24-hour availability.
  • Requires frequent traveling.
  • May supervise one or more social service staff persons.
  • May place children in foster care and/or other substitute care arrangements, and monitor the child’s progress.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the profession; attends seminars and workshops.

Job Requirements

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or the Behavioral Sciences, with three or more years in social services, or a Master Degree with an Internship in Social Services or Criminal Justice.
  • Must pass CWEL, CERAP, CANS and any Specialty exams as required for the position.
  • This position requires the use of a personal auto, a valid driver’s license, a motor vehicle report acceptable to the agency’s insurance broker and verification of insurance coverage.
  • Demonstrates the experiences, beliefs, attitude and awareness that indicates cultural sensitivity to the client population served.
  • Ability to partner with clients individually, in family, to help them mobilize resources and their inner capacity to address problems they face.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with other team members, other Agency resources and outside services in addressing client needs.
