OVERVIEW: The mission of our Residential Services Department is to provide housing and living services to the disadvantaged and developmentally disabled. Our Residential Homes or Intermediate Care Facilities can house up to 15 individuals and CILA's or Community Integrated Living Facilities can house between 6-8 residents. Both options offer safe, small group environments where residents can learn the necessary life skills such as money management and personal care under the guidance of trained 24-hour staff. Included in these programs are pre-vocational and vocational and employment training that further strengthen their life skills and assist in enabling to live as independently as possible. 

We currently have an opportunity available for a Lead Cook and Housekeeper with the Residential Services Department under the division of Employment Community Support Services. This position will be located at either one of 8 CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) locations or at one of our five Intermediate Care Facilities/Residential Homes. 

Under the direction of the Resident Services Director this position plans and administers food service and housekeeping programs in accordance with agency standards. 

Duties may include but not limited to:

  • Provides food service in compliance with all applicable state and local regulations.
  • Prepares and serves meals on scheduled shifts.
  • Utilizes the expertise of dietitian consultants to plan meals.
  • Schedules employees to ensure proper coverage at all times.
  • Supervises, directs and trains relief cook(s).
  • Maintains a record of resident’s diets and all records as required.
  • Orders all food necessary for accurate provision of the approved menu.  Maintains a record of all food purchase.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of all food and supplies, including a separate record of USDA commodities received and used.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

Position requires high school diploma or equivalent with Food Service Sanitation Certificate, or High School diploma or equivalent, two years of cooking experience, and certification in Food Service Sanitation within 6 months. Use of a personal car may be required.  If a personal vehicle is used, must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
