Development Coordinator
Ada S. McKinley Community Services, Inc. is driven by its mission to empower, educate, and employ people to change lives and strengthen communities. The agency was founded as a settlement house in 1919 by Ada Sophia McKinley, a
schoolteacher and social reformer, who saw the need to assist veterans returning from World War I and African Americans migrating from the South. Today, the agency serves more than 7,000 people annually at over 70 locations. Services rendered daily include tutoring, mentoring and college placement, foster care, housing opportunities, youth and family counseling, employment training and placement, and Head Start programs.
Hybrid with majority of days spent in office.
Basic Function: The Development Coordinator will be responsible for managing various aspects of our development activities, including gift administration, data management, campaign support, grant management, and prospect research. This role involves maintaining the integrity of our donor database, generating reports, and providing essential support to our development team.

Reports To: Development Manager
Supervises (No Direct Reports)
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
Gift Administration & Data Management (8 hours per week)
- Manage Salesforce CRM, including creating contacts and accounts for new donors and grants.
- Create opportunities in Salesforce upon receipt of new donations or grants.
- Generate and run reports to track donor analytics and create donor lists.
- Ensure data accuracy and perform quality checks on all records.
- Update contact relationships and business affiliations as necessary.
- Investigate donations appearing as leads in Salesforce and follow the "Processing New Leads from SoapBox" procedure.
Pass-Through Gift Management (1 hour per week)
- Regularly monitor and manage pass-through gift portals (Benevity, Frontstream, YourCause, Cybergrants, United Way).
- Ensure timely processing of gifts from these portals.
Campaign Support (5 hours per week)
- Create and manage campaign pages through the Soapbox portal.
- Actively participate in planning meetings for all fundraising campaigns.
- Generate progress reports for campaigns.
Opportunity Management & Prospect Research (5 hours per week)
- Update and track open opportunities in Salesforce.
- Research new funding opportunities and prospects.
Stewardship Duties (5 hours per week)
- Create, upload, and send acknowledgment letters to individual donors.
- Follow the "Acknowledgment Letter Procedure" and use available templates.
- Manage activities according to the Stewardship Plan (welcome kits, thank you calls, surveys, impact reports, etc.).
Professional Development (1 hour per week)
- Participate in Salesforce training modules to continually improve expertise.
- Stay updated with industry best practices in development and CRM management.
Mental/Physical Demands:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The supervisor must be able to effectively establish a positive unit milieu consisting of positive communications with all levels of personnel and clients as well as fostering a team approach. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to interpret a variety of written and oral instructions, clearly speak and hear, use hands and fingers, walk, drive, and sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Environmental Conditions:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Duties are performed in a typical office environment in addition to community locations including client residences, housing developments, schools, hospitals locations as well as some virtual settings.
