Basic FunctionRenders direct casework services to clients within agency policies and program procedures, under the direct supervision of the Program Director or designated supervisor.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports To: Director

Supervises: N/A

Work Hours: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Bonus: $3,000

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Complete the intake process and discharge process for youth in the shelter.
  • Assesses clients’ background information to determine the appropriateness for services.
  • Understands and executes the Agency’s and site’s policies and services to clients. Also maintains current industry knowledge.
  • Carries specific caseload, providing case management services to clients to meet their basic environmental and psycho-social needs.
  • Maintains case notes, shift summaries, and attends collateral staffing to provide appropriate documentation; performs other record-keeping practices required by agency.
  • Performs a variety of casework duties including but not limited to completing assessments, supervision of visits, analyzing and evaluation data related to case, etc.
  • Works closely with Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) monitors and representatives.
  • Develop a written intake assessment plan including goals and timelines for each goal.
  • Implements plan of actions for cases, specified treatment programs for clients based on established protocols and evaluation of current client status.
  • Works with client and/or family to make modify recommended treatment plan; also works with supervisor to continuously review handling of cases.
  • Frequently consult with other Ada personnel, other social service agencies, and outside entities such as church, police, and courts, regarding client concerns/situations –for the purpose of advocacy and making inter-agency referrals.
  • Makes recommendations for placement of children in shelter care and other substitute living arrangements; assists with the placement; monitors placement where applicable.
  • Conducts routine home visits
  • Report all suspicions, observations, or witness statements of alleged abuse and/or neglect, as required by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Participate in ongoing training; maintain job-specific required certifications up to date such as First Aid/CPR, CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) and medication monitoring.
  • Assist with providing client transportation to school, appointments, and other activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all clients, staff, and agency related entities and matters; adheres to the Agency’s Code of Ethics.
  • Must be available for client crisis management.
  • Must have 24-hour availability to respond to client crisis, emergency placements, etc.
  • * Complete 906’s and Daily Census when requested.
  • * Available to work flexible hours as needed by working uncovered shifts occasionally as requested by supervisor including weekends and over nights.
  • * Assist with the interviewing and on-boarding of prospective and newly hired social service workers.

* Non-essential duties

Mental/Physical Demands: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Work requires prolonged concentration using a computer in analyzing and manipulating data. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Conditions: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Duties are performed in a typical office environment. No unusual or adverse working conditions exist.


Job Requirements



  • The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Sciences such as social work, counseling, school psychology, criminal justice, etc.
  • This position requires the use of a personal automobile, a valid driver’s license, a motor vehicle report acceptable to the agency’s insurance broker and verification of insurance coverage.
  • Demonstrates the experiences, beliefs, attitude, and awareness that indicates cultural sensitivity to the client population.
  • Ability to partner with clients individually in family, to help them mobilize resources and their inner capacity to address problems they face.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with other team members, other Agency resources and outside services in addressing client needs.
