OVERVIEW:  Through our supported employment and vocational skills training programs the Ada S. McKinley is able to assist in removing the barriers that prevent adults living with disabilities from achieving fulfillment through employment. We conduct in-depth assessment and provide various job training programs in order to secure gainful and fulfilling employment in various positions such as janitorial, mail clerk, manufacturing in other areas of compeitive and other supported employment programs. 

We currently have an opportunity available for a Janitorial Supervisor with our Employment and Community Support Services Division. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Janitorial Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of the custodial staff in the daily maintenance and cleaning of contractual buildings.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Supervises assigned custodians in cleaning contractual buildings.
  • Recommends personnel actions, i.e., promotions, transfers, hires, and terminations.
  • Schedules and assigns work tasks daily.
  • Interviews and evaluates potential candidates for employment.
  • Trains assigned staff in various cleaning techniques.
  • Prepares daily work schedules ensuring all specifications outlined in the contract are completed and assigns personnel accordingly.
  • Prepares performance evaluations of custodial personnel.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of staff on the job site through training and communication.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies and advises on purchases.
  • Receives and approves all leave requests.
  • Implements corrective action measures regarding performance/attendance in accordance with program policies and procedures.
  • Conducts routine quality control inspections in accordance with statement of work.
  • Monitors timecard and attendance records daily, weekly.
  • Establishes, maintains, and facilitates interdepartmental relations with office personnel and quality control inspector.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Education: Position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, Associate’s degree is preferred.

Experience: Two years’ experience in the janitorial field. Supervisory experience is required.

Other Skill Requirements:

  • Knowledge of cleaning methods materials, equipment, and practices.
  • Ability to instruct housekeeping employees in the performance of manual tasks requiring moderate strength.
  • A thorough knowledge of the operation of all mechanical cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and other correspondence relating to the job as necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with subordinates as well as other supervisors and management personnel.
  • Ability to partner with clients individually, in family, to help them mobilize resources and their inner capacity to address problems they face.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with other team members, other Agency resources and outside services in addressing client needs.
