OVERVIEW:  Through our supported employment and vocational skills training programs the Ada S. McKinley is able to assist in removing the barriers that prevent adults living with disabilities from achieving fulfillment through employment. We conduct in-depth assessment and provide various job training programs in order to secure gainful and fulfilling employment in various positions such as janitorial, mail clerk, manufacturing in other areas of compeitive and other supported employment programs. 

We currently have an opportunity available for an Area Director of Janitorial Services with our Employment and Community Support Services Division. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Janitorial Services this position plans, organizes and directs the development, implementation and operation of the supported employment and janitorial contract program sites assigned.

 Duties may include but are not limited to: 

  • Plans, directs and implements the operations, standards, policies/procedures of the supported employment program and the janitorial service contract functions to include identified goals to enhance program operations.
  • Coordinates and manages contract acquisitions, document preparation, negotiation, contract modification of the SEP and the Janitorial services contracts with customers.
  • Implements applicable Janitorial cleaning standards, performance criteria, quality control measures, customer complaint procedures and corrective actions protocols.
  • Demonstrates leadership in carrying out the agency’s mission, vision, guiding principles and communicates those values to subordinates, customers, partners and funding sources
  • Ensures that program sites are provided the required resources, workers, and trained supervisory personnel to achieve the program’s mission.
  • Recruits and recommends the hire of site managers/supervisors, approves transfers, and reviews and recommends disciplinary action.
  • Maintains/monitors work area reports relating to performance statistics, inventory control of supplies and equipments, needs assessment , payroll processing. 

Job Requirements

Education: The position requires a bachelor’s degree in environment services, business, or related field. National Executive Housekeeping Certification preferred.

Experience: Five years management experience in government contractual services and at least four years in supervision.

The incumbent must successfully pass mandated security clearances for all contracted sites and must have access to personal transportation.

  • Knowledgeable of current janitorial /housekeeping cleaning methods and best practices.
  • Knowledgeable of work measurement and control procedures.
  • Competence in budget projections and cost control concepts.
  • Contract administration experience.
  • Knowledgeable of work safety standards and practices.
  • The incumbent must successfully pass mandated security clearances for all contracted sites and must have access to personal transportation.
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to inventory equipment, purchase supplies and keep business in a strong financial position.
